Polishing injection molds has two purposes; One is to increase the smoothness of the mold, making the surface of the product produced by the mold smooth, beautiful, and attractive. The other is that the mold can be easily demolded, and injection mold factories make the plastic non stick to the mold and unable to detach.

The precautions for polishing injection molds in injection mold factories are as follows:

(1) When starting to process a new mold cavity, the surface of the workpiece should be inspected first. The injection mold factory should clean the surface with kerosene to prevent dirt from sticking to the oilstone surface and losing cutting function.

(2) When grinding coarse particles, the order should be from easy to difficult, especially for some difficult to grind blind spots, the deeper bottom should be studied first.

(3) Some workpieces can be polished by assembling several workpieces together. First, polish the coarse particles or fire patterns of individual workpieces separately, and then polish all workpieces together until smooth.

(4) For workpieces with large flat or side surfaces, use an oilstone to polish rough lines, and then use a flat steel plate for light transmission inspection to check for unevenness or warping. If there is warping, it can cause difficulty in demolding or damage to the workpiece.

(5) To prevent the mold workpiece from being inverted or having some joint surfaces that need protection, a saw blade or sandpaper can be used to stick it to the edge, which can achieve the desired protection effect.

(6) Pull the grinding surface back and forth, try to flatten the oil stone handle as much as possible, and the injection mold should not exceed 25 when it leaves the factory; Due to the steep slope, the force is pushed down from top to bottom, which can easily cause a lot of coarse marks to be worn on the workpiece.

(7) If sandpaper is used to polish the flat surface of the workpiece, the sandpaper used in the injection molding factory should not be larger than the tool area, otherwise it will grind to the wrong place.

(8) The shape of the grinding tool should be close to the surface shape of the mold, so that the injection mold factory can ensure that the workpiece is not deformed by grinding.

If the above points are done well, the appearance of the injection mold after polishing will be very beautiful.
